Full Spectrum Light Bulbs
NOTE: Some product packaging may not indicate FULL SPECTRUM, but the products
will meet the below outlined criteria.
The term FULL SPECTRUM has no agreed upon standard or definition in
the lighting industry. Instead, products labeled or sold as FULL SPECTRUM need
only meet the definitions established by the manufacturer of the lamps or the
vendor selling the lamps. In determining what products are sold as full spectrum
two criteria are most often considered, the C.R.I. rating and
the color temperature rating (measured in degrees Kelvin).
C.R.I. stands for color rendering index.
The color rendering index ranges from 1-100, with the higher numbers approaching
the color replicating properties of sunlight (sunlight having a C.R.I. rating
of 100). Thus, the higher the C.R.I. the truer colors appear.
Color temperature refers to the color, or light spectrum, emitted by
a lamp. A full chart of color temperatures may be found via the following link
on our web site: Color
Temperature Chart. Lamps with a Kelvin rating of 5000 or higher produce
a high number of Scotopic lumens (Scotopic lumen output is the amount
of light registered by the rods of the human eye and also controls pupil size
directly effecting visual acuity for tasks). Thus, 5000 Kelvin or higher bulbs
give the appearance of substantially more light.
Fluorescent light bulbs sold on our site as full spectrum shall
meet the following criteria:
- The C.R.I. rating is greater than 80.
- The Kelvin rating is greater or equal to 5000 degrees Kelvin.
Incandescent light bulbs sold on our site as full spectrum shall
meet the following criteria:
- The light bulbs will offer 40-50% less yellow light spectrum than
standard incandescents, thereby improving color rendering. **NOTE-Incandescent
lamps are not rated for C.R.I. nor Kelvin temperature.
Halogen PAR lamps sold on our site as full spectrum shall meet
the following criteria:
- The C.R.I. rating is 100. Click here to view our

Floods products.
Halogen MR16 lamps sold on our site as full spectrum shall meet
the following criteria:
- The C.R.I. rating is 99. Click here to view our Solux
Bulbs.
