H.I.D. - High Intensity
Discharge
High Intensity Discharge (H.I.D.) are lamps in which an arc passing between
two electrodes in a pressurized tube causes various metallic additives to vaporize
and release large amounts of light. Three types of lamps are currently available
on the market: Mercury Vapor, Metal Halide, and High Pressure Sodium. All three
types offer outstanding energy efficiency and service life.
