These bulbs are small
reflectors (2" / 44.9mm) that are becoming very popular. They are usually
identified by their 2-pin base and three letter designations. Wattages and
voltages cover a wide range.
MR16 halogen
light bulbs are small reflector halogen bulbs (2” diameter across the MR16 reflector).
MR16 style bulbs are available in several wattages and voltages. Due to the
small size of MR16 filaments, the filament may be precisely oriented within
the reflector to accurately determine beam spread. Our MR16 light bulbs are
available in beam spreads ranging from 7-60 degrees. This makes our line of
MR16 light bulbs ideal for several applications. The small size of MR16 bulbs
also makes them ideal for using in tight spaces.
MR16 light bulbs are identified by wattage, voltage, and beam spread. Often
all 3 identifying criteria are correlate to a 3 letter ANSI code (ex. BAB, EXN).
These ANSI codes for MR16 bulbs are used consistently by all manufacturers.
MR16 bulbs also vary by their color rendering qualities, amount of back spill,
and rated life.
We offer MR16 light bulbs with and without cover glass (also called “cover guard”).
Cover glass refers to the plate of glass covering the reflector. As a general
rule of thumb, MR16 bulbs with cover glass should be used when your fixture
is exposed to weather (as in landscape applications) or in food service applications.
MR16’s without cover glass should be used in fixtures with glass covers to dissipate
heat from the light bulb.
